The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for a Software Engineer II in our Reston, VA Office.
Position Summary
As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for highly complex coding using various software solutions, managing small sections of ongoing projects, closely adhering to deadlines and reporting directly to the Sr. Dev Director. You will also take responsibility for creating design specifications, unit testing, and preparing technical documentation. You will ensure relationships with customers and cross-team members are professional and meet expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Updates and develops software and provides customer support.
Assist Product and Project Management in initial planning by developing a thorough understanding of the problem domain (utilizing inception and elaboration artifacts) and effectively aligning it with the software engineering domain to produce an architectural, software, and resource assessment for project success.
Manage the assignment and coordination of technical activities and the delivery of technical artifacts throughout the project, utilizing appropriate tools and protocols to effectively communicate this information to the Project Manager, the Architects, and the software development support services.
Develops increasing expertise in key software development and system implementation technologies. Develops experience and expertise in problem definition, requirements analysis and the general design of systems.
Assist in maintaining all system administration, development and support documentation, including current product level release notes.
Assists with the planning, requirement analysis, and testing of all system patches and upgrades.
Supports production issues and activities, as necessary, by researching, analyzing issues, and identifying and/or delivering solutions.
Qualifications
Education/
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related subject, plus additional related college courses or professional training and minimum of four years of progressively responsible directly-related experience
Related Skills & Other Requirements:
Strong and evolving competence in several programming languages and technologies, mastery of multiple tools sets, technologies and implementation environments
Advanced knowledge of programming language, relational database management systems, networking technology, multiple desk operating systems and multiple server operating systems
Fundamentals in OO and computer science foundation principles.
Advanced knowledge of J2EE, JAVA, Oracle PL/SQL, Struts, Spring Framework, design patterns
Development experience working with application / web servers such as Weblogic, tomcat, build tools such as ANT, Maven, popular version control systems and bug tracking tools.
Strong proficiency in JDBC and data access design patterns.
Familiar with Web Services: RESTful, SOAP related frameworks such as Apache Axis, Jersey etc. Experience with XML and JSON: XSLT, DTD or Schema modeling, and DOM / XPath / SAX / JSON parsing, Xtreme etc is a plus
Knowledge of systems analysis and design (including OOAD and UML) , and database design
Knowledge of software development lifecycle and modern software engineering principles and practices
Ability to focus on the goals of quality, time and budget
Ability to work independently
Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments simultaneously and effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Strong problem solving and analytic skills
Customer service orientation
Experience with GWT a plus
Experience with Liferay a plus

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
