FAMIL001595 Showing 1 location Job Details Description Family Support Specialist (FSS) initiates and maintains regular contact with families, primarily in their homes; establishes trusting relationships with families and assists in strengthening parent-child relationships.
All NVFS employees are expected to demonstrate the organizational values and sensitivity to the diversity of the organizations client base.
While this role will primarily be serving African American/Black families, they may be assigned families from other backgrounds.
Part of the nationwide Healthy Families America initiative of Prevent Child Abuse America, Healthy Families of Northern Virginia Family Service offers comprehensive support and guidance, through home visitation, to new and expectant parents.
The mission of Healthy Families is to promote healthy prenatal outcomes, enhance the development of very young children, and promote healthy family functioning.
This role will primarily be working remotely while providing some essential services which may require occasional in-person and/or in-office work.
In accordance with President Bidens COVID-19 Action Plan , and as part of our continued efforts to maintain a safe workplace for employees and clients, NVFS will require all employees to be fully vaccinated with an approved COVID-19 vaccination or show proof of negative COVID-19 test results weekly.
This policy goes into effect November 1, 2021 and this position is subject to these requirements.
Essential Job Duties:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Conduct client home visits on a regularly assigned schedule with the goal of establishing a trusting relationship in accordance with Healthy Families America Best Practice Standards.
Prepare appropriate activities for home visit using approved evidence-based curriculum and other supplemental materials.
Prepare appropriate activities and facilitate group socialization experiences and field trips for families.
Provide appropriate parenting modeling, education, and other supportive services as outlined in the Healthy Families America Best Practice Standards.
Conduct developmental screening and evaluations using such instruments as ASQ-3, ASQ-SE-2, and HOME with families.
Make referrals to other services as needed and work with other community providers to provide collaborative services to clients.
As needed, use bilingual skills to facilitate communication between participant families and other program staff, providers, and/or partners.
Prepare documentation and maintain client files in accordance with program requirements and NVFS guidelines.
Enter data for record keeping and reporting to meet federal/state/program guidelines.
Participate in regular supervision with Program Supervisor, providing regular updates and preparing case presentations.
Maintain current own level of knowledge on program software and other information on early childhood programs.
Qualification Requirements:

High School graduate or GED; college coursework preferred.
Infant Mental Health endorsement preferred.
Experience working with or providing services to children (aged 0-3 years) and families.
Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken language skills in English.
Bilingual skills may be required.
Must have reliable, dependable and insured transportation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to enter and retrieve data using computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
