Responsibilities:
Our client is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to join the team developing state-of-the-art user equipment for the company's satellite-based position, navigation, and timing (PNT) solutions. The selected candidate will work with an internal development team and with commercial partners to implement the company's flagship Satellite Time and Location (STL) solution on new platforms. Primary responsibilities will be to:
Interpret data sheets and product specification documentations to write performance test plans. Define and write performance test plans and test programs for Low-Earth-Orbit Satellite timing synchronization equipment. Execute test plans and programs for equipment developed by us and our partners which integrates software objects to be able to perform timing synchronization. Daily monitoring of test data and work with other engineering teams to ensure a high-quality product is being produced. Help to develop process controls around the test area to ensure high-quality testing. Build and operate bench test setups, and a wide variety of test equipment. Develop a basic understanding of how external variables such as temperature, RF signal penetration, oscillators, and spectral characteristics influence the operation and performance of equipment. Develop both a basic theoretical and practical working knowledge of the entire suite of test equipment used to characterize timing synchronization performance. Document test results and write reports noting the results and recommendations. Review device specifications, collaborate with the design team to apply design for test principles to ensure product manufacturability. Actively identify test related readiness, issues, and optimizations throughout the product lifecycle and work towards expedient resolutions. Combine the understanding described above to help define the problem or need, help to identify the correct measurement method or tool to address the need, efficient and correct use of the measurement tool, and basic analysis of the data. Combine the understanding described above to assess current testing capability and help to improve new test equipment or modifying/implementing new testing procedures. Use analysis tools such as time lab, Excel, JMP and presentation tools such as Word and PowerPoint to present measurement results and basic analysis, in a clear manner, to others. Occasional off-hour support is needed to work with international teams to ensure manufacturing quality and throughput. Own the optimization, standardization, and improvement of test methodologies to enhance operational efficiency in production, ensure product quality and minimize cost. Interact with suppliers and partners to complete engineering programs for prototype test, final test, and qualification. Manage lab equipment and test site. Periodic trips to the field/client site for remote testing, installation support, and collaborative partner test activities. Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science (Aerospace, Computer, Electrical or Systems). Master's is a strong plus. Required
Qualifications:

years of experience in product test engineering or an equivalent technical background Experience in RF Test or RF Product Engineering a strong plus GPS/GNSS testing experience Experience with QA concepts and methodology Strong experience working in a Linux environment Strong proficiency with Python and C+
Proficiency with GitLab Knowledge of industry standard test automation tools and experience developing product test harnesses Experience with Continuous Integration and tools to support test automation Experience driving quality across an organization as a holistic plan and not just test execution Experience with GPS, GNSS, PNT, Satellites, Software Defined Radios and/or Radio Communications a strong plus Strong verbal and written communication skills Must be local to the Northern Virginia area and able to reliably commute to the office in Reston, VA Ability to travel up to 20%, mostly withing the US; some International U.S. Citizenship is required for this position due to government contracts Technologies and Tools RF, ARM, DSP, C++, Python, RTOS, Linux development environment Skills with Matlab/Octave, Python, verification or test automation tools Experience working with:
