Avionics System Safety and Reliability Engineer

Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines.
To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As part of a diverse and hardworking team, you will facilitate and perform system safety and reliability analyses, identify hazards, failure causes and mitigations, and provide a detailed record of the safety risk approach.
In the early phases of a program, you will focus on assessing functional hazards, developing, and allocating safety and reliability requirements, and defining scope vital to develop a safe and reliable system.
In later phases of development, you will manage safety and reliability validation and verification activities, assess safety and reliability impacts of engineering changes and nonconformance's, and ensure that design-specific safety and reliability mitigations are implemented effectively.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to continue to engage with the product team well into component qualification, production, and vehicle system certification and operational phases of the program.
This role reports to the Avionics Systems Engineering Manager as part of the Avionics Integrated Project Team.
The role includes responsibility for tracking and analyzing key performance metrics for avionics systems throughout the development lifecycle and using those to optimize for manufacturability, quality and cost.
You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program.
You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.
