As an Editorial Assistant within the Office of Communications & Publishing, some of your specific duties will include:
Developing communications plans that outline goals, objectives, timelines, milestones, task leads, formats and measures. Develops draft message(s) around which communications on that topic are designed and delivered. Preparing written documents such as reports, memos, information sheets and posters that articulate the value and relevance of programmatic and operational decisions that affect the ability of USGS employees to do their jobs and their morale of USGS employees. Developing and managing content for the internal and external web presence and uses social media tools to enhance communications efforts. Compiling and/or editing documents written by subject matter experts to shorten, clarify, and simplify content before dissemination. Performing communications activities as required, including maintaining and updating files and web pages, planning internal events, preparing supplemental material packets, tracking results and other data and answering inquiries. Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-06 level:
One year of appropriate professional experience that is equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-05 level work assignments:
- Gathering content relevant to writing a post for a blog. - Preparing digital employee newsletter using concise language:
requires updating content, selecting appropriate graphics to accompany the articles, etc. - Managing intranet content, including writing appropriate for the web. - Developing and executing communications plans and contributing ideas for campaign implementation - Providing recommendations and suggested edits to documents written by others to add clarity and perspective to the message being shared. - Preparing analysis of information including reports and data to provide cogent recommendations to supervisors or peers in an organization - Measuring the effectiveness of communications activity, such as developing metrics, setting benchmarks, etc. - Experience in the planning process for events and large meetings. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
