As Deputy Associate Director for Administration within the Office of Administration, some of your specific duties will include:
Serving as the senior advisor to the Associate Director, responsible for the development and implementation of polices, as well as strategic and operational plans related to the administrative systems and financial, facilities, safety, security, and procurement enterprise and infrastructure of the USGS. Planning, coordinating, and carrying out a variety of highly sensitive special studies on major administrative and technical support issues that often require close liaison with other disciplines within the USGS or other DOI Bureaus. Represents the USGS on a variety of Department-wide teams and committees for administrative management. Serving as the Program Coordinator for the Science Support budget activity which is $100
million in direct appropriations and another $50
million in burden earned on reimbursable income. Conferring with and providing guidance to all levels of headquarters, regional, and field science center staff and management regarding special issues, commitments, and matters related to administrative operations. Providing project leadership to groups of individuals from throughout the USGS with specific group charges to accomplish specific objectives in the wide variety of administrative management issues facing the Bureau. Directly supervising a staff and acts during the Associate Director's absence. In order to qualify for the position, you must have 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include:
providing leadership and direction in the areas of managing, representing and overseeing business operations and services in an organization which includes accounting and financial management, acquisitions and financial assistance, facilities, physical and information security, occupational health and safety and policy directives and guidance. Applying USGS procedures, processes, and tools. Presenting, defending, and negotiating program goals and activities with senior USGS leadership to ensure successful program implementation. Developing detailed and comprehensive analysis of a wide variety of critical, sensitive, and controversial issues, options, and alternatives that formed the basis for management decisions affecting major current and long-range policies and proposals. The recommendations and decisions significantly influenced organizational, programmatic, and operational activities You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.
